This quiz song is one of my all time favorites.
It was written by a Texas born singer/songwriter who is still with us.
A lot of folks have covered this song.
It was first recorded back in the 70s by a female singer.

1. What is the song title?
2. Who wrote it?
3. Who first recorded it?

The songwriter was Rodney Crowell, the song - Til I Gain Control Again, and the singer was Emmylou Harris in 1975.

Bassy9, You are correct with all three. Well done!
Crystal Gayle also did it in 1983 and had a #1 hit with it.
Here it is with Mr. Crowell singing it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wRI1Qiokzec

It is such a nice song!

No - I am just a happy housewife from Australia, who loves Country Music - married to a ex-Country Music Musician, and trying to learn Bass in my latter years [now 63].

I've got a couple of years on you.

Hi Gary - have got a quiz for you:

The singer/songwriter is an Australian, of which he wrote a song for a Australian ‘star’ , who started his career as a lead singer in a Rock and Roll Band – and had a later version for a North American singer in the sixties.

1. Who is the songwriter
2. Who is the Australian singer
3. Who is the North American artist
4. What is the name of the song.

Hope this has you frustrated as much as some of your quizzes.

No, but the north american artist is a top exponent of the acoustic guitar

When you say North American artist do you mean someone who was born in the USA (or Canada)?
That would exclude Tommy Emmanuel.
And is the song a vocal or an instrumental?

bassy9

The North American singer is Canadian and no, it is not an instrumental. This little man comes with a big voice

My husband [Fred] says you can go to bed now - sorry for all the frustrations, keep up the good work - love doing the quizes [even if it takes up a lot of time] - his memory hasn't had such a good workout in years. Thanks, Beryl
