When you say you turned it into a slide, does that mean you put in a nut to raise the strings so they are about 3/8 inch above the fretboard (such as what bluegrass players use)?
Or, do you you mean you have it so strings are at normal height and you put a slide over a finger and play with it and can also use your other fingers to press down the strings?
I raised the strings with metal nut and tuned it to GBDGBD . Use it in my lap with steel bar not finger bar. use thumb, index and middle finger picks

Great! You are playing in open G, which is the standard tuning that most folks use.
If you want a lot of free pointers by listening to and watching a really good player and teacher, check out Troy Brenningmeyer.
He has a bunch of free videos on youtube where he plays the tune and then shows you how to do it with lots of good tips. Click on the following link and then click on the pictures where he is holding the guitar and enjoy. You will get hours of fun from these and no doubt learn a lot of stuff: http://www.youtube.com/user/troitone?ob=0&feature=results_main
For his full lessons, which include tablature, you can purchase them at reasonable prices from his site at: http://www.lessonswithtroy.com/dobro_lessons/
Here is another one that you might enjoy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ugVQ3Z0djA&feature=related
And finally, the day I went to buy my Regal resonator guitar I had my camera with me and took a video of the fellow who sold it to me playing his final tune on it before I took it away. When I got home I played it back and added myself playing along on bass. Then I sent him the video. Here it is: http://s410.photobucket.com/albums/pp183/GaryMtasha/?action=view¤t=DavewithBass.mp4
Thanks for all the Info. I think this will be fun for a while

Friend of Phil... With regard to "Ramblin' On My Mind" as done by Eric Clapton, here is a good video. Watch what this fellow is doing and try to do it the same way. He slows it down a bit later in the video.

And here are tabs:
