Quiz #33
Okay gang, it’s time for a funny one that has no singing. Two guys are on it.
“The Cowboys Lament” is playing in the background.
They covered it in 1976-77.
(recorded in 76; released in 77)
One had a funny son. No longer with us.
Both guys are no longer with us.
1. What is the song?
2. Who are the guys?

Git Off My Horse
Tex Ritter & Johnny Bond
No google on this, cause Gary W don't allow it.
I just happen to have this in my library.
And the funny son gave it away.
Phil
PS. Don't think that is The Cowboy's Lament

Phil, Yes! That's it.
The song actually is "The Cowboys Lament". It is known as "Bury Me Not On The Lone Prairie".
Git Off My Horse by Tex Ritter and Johnny Bond can be heard at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hDiOFzlvo-0

Slewfoot, Wikipedia does say "The Cowboy's Lament" is "Streets of Laredo" : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Streets_of_Laredo_(song)
However, they also say "The Cowboy's Lament" is "Bury Me Not on the Lone Prairie" : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bury_Me...e_Lone_Prairie
Here is a question for you" are they both correct, and if not, which one is correct?

Well I had always heard Streets Of Laredo as Cowboy's Lament. That is why I questioned Gary's statement.
I do have Tex & Johnny in my library if anyone wants it.

So I Googled Cowboy's Lament and most articles there are saying Streets Of Laredo. So if I had Googled for the quiz, I might not have got the answer.
Regardless, where do I collect my prize?????
I would settle for another recoding by Johnny Bond, called Sick, Sober And Sorry. Not the song, but another story by Johnny Bond. I have been searching for this for years and that is how I happened to get the quiz song.
(And how I knew the answer !)
Thanks for all the fun Gary. Keeps us all thinking, (which is good for older minds....lol)

Phil, Your prize has been sent. Oops! I see you didn't mean the song by Johnny Bond, lol. Oh well! I'll read closer next time.
Or did you want the song? I am confused; happens a lot these days.

It was really a RECITATION by Johnny Bond. Rather funny, or I thought so 40 years ago.
Good try though, Gary. And thanks for the mp3.
